| Description:The Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in September 1943 to establish a memorial to those who have developed Canada's great winter sport - ice hockey. The Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum Corporation (HHOF) exists in order to honour and preserve the history of the game of ice hockey and, in particular, those who have made outstanding contributions and achievements in the development of the game. The HHOF will collect, preserve, research, exhibit, and promote all those objects, images, and histories which are determined to be significant to the story of ice hockey in Canada, and throughout the World. The HHOF will carry out its exhibition activities both in the Museum and whenever permissible through outreach programs. The HHOF is a non-share, non profit Corporation and a Registered Charity under the Income Tax Act. The HHOF's primary philanthropic activity is to promote, encourage, and solicit "Gift in Kind" donations of artifacts, memorabilia and historic resource materials for the betterment of the Museum/Archives and fulfillment of its Statement of Purpose. |
